Harlan knew that music would always hold a special place in his heart always at a very young age. Harlan grew up in the United Pentecost Church. His dad was a pastor and his mother a singer. Although his childhood was an abusive childhood and not a very good one, Harlan taught himself how to play the drums and guitar and bass guitar as well one song that he wrote on keyboard although that is the only song that he can play on the keyboard.

Harlan began writing in the 90’s and became a signed BMI Songwriter. Harlan has written 50+ songs, some country and some gospel. Harlan has performed in bars and upon large venue stages. He has also sang and played in numerous churches. Harlan has a deep passion for writing and singing. He pours his heart and soul into just about every song that he writes, Harlan also Co-Wrote the song He’s Texas with the artist Chaye.

Harlan thanks the friends who have loved and stood by his side. Harlon and Shelly Norfleet are not just his friends they are his family/ Harlon Norfleet has seen Harlan through many things. Steve and Renee ward are not just friends, they are family to him. Harlan loves them all with all of his heart. Steve and Renee ward played with Harlan in bands such as Silver Haze and Hands Of Faith. Dewayne Dougherty was also a member of those same bands.

Harlan did not have a very good childhood. A child of a Ordained UPCI Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Minister in UPCI churches. Both Harlan’s Dad and Mother began beating him at the age of 5. In those times as he grew older it was music that would sooth him. At the age of 13 he was thrown out into a snow storm in February after standing up for himself and refusing to take another beating.

Harlan then lived on the streets and on occasion at some ones house who took pity on him. At 17 Jane Bowles took him into her home where her husband Jimmy and her children Jamie, John, Jerry and Mary Jane made him a part of the family. They helped to put Harlan on another path in life. Harlan loves each and everyone of them with all that is in him.

Harlan is divorced and has a 16 year old son. He also has a 34 year old son in New Jersey and he has 2 children in heaven.

Harlan became an Ordained Minister, He has pastored, been an assistant pastor 2 times and an evangelist. Harlan stopped preaching as well as singing and writing both books and songs after his wife cheated on him. Harlan has had 1 Christian book titled “A Purposed Heart Vol 1” all proceeds were donated to a church that was growing. Harlan’s second book was finished but he never had it published. Harlan was done very badly wrong by 3 Pastors and walked away from church and preaching.

Harlan has recently started to write music again and is working with BMI to get his BMI account straightened away and attatched to this website.
